Outdoor cinemas in Barcelona (or any city we happen to find ourselves in) are one of our favorite summer evening activities. What better way to wind down the day than watching a movie outside in the warm weather, soaking up the cool vibe of the city?

Sala Montjuic – Montjuic
An outdoor cinema at the foot of a castle—does it get any better than that? Apparently it does, because not only does Montjuic’s outdoor summer cinema offer a great selection of movies, but they are also accompanied by small live music performances beforehand. You can even rent comfoy lounge chairs if you forget your blanket.
There’s a basic entrance or other combinations that include live music or a visit to the castle.
Another great thing? You don’t have to worry about bringing your own food (if you don’t want to). At Sala Montjuïc, you’ll find a bar and restaurant service offering locally-sourced food with options like pizza, plant-based burgers and nuggets, plus other small snacks.

Cinema Lliure – Barceloneta
Go for a swim, have a snack and get to the Sant Sebastià beach in Barceloneta before sundown to catch one of the summer flicks on summer nights from June to August. It’s a favorite spot for locals to see a movie outside in Barcelona, and one of the most scenic outdoor cinemas in the city, right along the central beaches.

CosmoNits – CosmoCaixa Barcelona
What better way to finish a day at the awesome Science Museum CosmoCaixa than to chill out in their open-air cinema right outside? Grab a deck chair, some snacks and a cold Estrella from the café and you’re all set for a thrill-filled evening at one of our favorite outdoor cinemas in Barcelona.
Gandules – CCCB Montalegre
The CCCB, or Center of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona, calls its outdoor summer cinema by the name of Gandules. Each year, Gandules follows a different theme. The CCCB is the place to come for a more alternative selection of films in the patio of one of Barcelona’s most active cultural centers.
Cine al Aire Libre – l’Illa Diagonal
Discover another outdoor cinema in Barcelona located in a charming park near the upper end of Diagonal Avenue. Nestle into the sundrenched Gardens of San Juan De Dios. Both tickets and lawnchairs are quite cheap, so don’t miss out! Check out the latest information for the venue here.
