Great question! A Devour Barcelona Food Tour is a fun, fascinating and (most importantly!) delicious introduction to the magical city of Barcelona. Our food tours visit some of the city’s best traditional eateries, including tapas bars, local markets, taverns and shops, and hidden gems that few even know exist! You’ll taste some of Barcelona’s best local food, and gain fascinating insight into its age-old traditions. We keep our groups small and every tour is led by an English-speaking guide who knows Barcelona like the back of their hand, and loves it to bits.
And the experience doesn’t finish once the tour is over. Our tours are full of invaluable insider tips and recommendations so you’ll know how (and where) to keep eating well during the rest of your stay.
In short, taking a Devour Barcelona Food Tour is like visiting a fellow foodie friend and letting them take you to their favorite spots, as well as giving you lots of tips for doing it yourself!
[/dt_sc_toggle_framed][dt_sc_toggle_framed title=”What’s included in the Tapas, Taverns and History of Barcelona Tour?”]
You’ll visit 3 fantastic tapas bars– each completely unique and well-loved by the locals. You’ll enjoy a delicious assortment of homemade tapas including some of Barcelona’s best charcuterie, delicious Iberian pork, and mouth-watering hot-off-the-grill local sausage. You’ll try at least 12 tapas, enough for a (large) dinner. And of course, at each tapas bar you’ll pair your food with delicious drinks (Spanish wine, draught beer or vermouth). All tastes are subject to change based on seasonality and our vendors’ holiday schedules, but we guarantee they’ll always be delicious!
You’ll be led by a knowledgeable and fun English-speaking guide and Barcelona expert. Between tapas bars, they will lead you through winding streets and grand squares, giving you a fun, interesting historic walking tour of the old city.
Our guests love this tour because it’s both a tapas tour and a walking tour – the perfect 2-in-1 to get your head (and your belly) around Barcelona!
Plus, every guest receives our Devouring Barcelona mini guide, packed with recommendations so you’ll keep eating well for the rest of your stay!
The tour lasts approximately 4 hours (give or take 15 minutes). The tour covers approximately 3.5 kilometers (2.15 miles) and there is guaranteed seating at two of the stops.
[/dt_sc_toggle_framed][dt_sc_toggle_framed title=”How many people will be on the tour?”]
Don’t worry, you won’t be part of a massive hoard following a guide with a flag or a flamenco fan! We keep our groups small and intimate, so the tour can squeeze into small, hidden places and you get personal time with your guide. The maximum number of guests on this tour is usually 10 people and we only require two guests to operate a tour.
[/dt_sc_toggle_framed][dt_sc_toggle_framed title=”When do you offer the tour and what time does it start?”]
We currently offer the tour Thursdays through Saturdays, except public holidays and not in August (due to the closure of most of the vendors). We may be able to open additional dates by request.
The tour starts promptly at 5:30pm (please check your booking confirmation email for all details). We ask our guests to come to the meeting point 10 minutes before the tour start time in order to check in with your guide. This ensures we get off to a timely start, and that first taste doesn’t get cold!
[/dt_sc_toggle_framed][dt_sc_toggle_framed title=”Where does the tour meet and where does it end?”]
The tour meets under the Arc de Triomf (which is on Passeig Lluís Companys) (scroll up for a Google Map view). Arriving by Metro? Take line 1 and get off at the Arc de Triomf metro stop (which is right across from the meeting place). When you book your tour you will receive an automated email from us with more precise meeting details.
The tour ends only a two-minute walk from the Jaume I metro stop (line 4). Your guide will gladly accompany you to the metro or help you catch a taxi.
[/dt_sc_toggle_framed][dt_sc_toggle_framed title=”I have a dietary restriction or food allergy. Can you accommodate me?”]
This tour is currently adaptable for pescatarians (those who do not eat meat, but do eat fish/seafood). It is not available for full vegetarian diets at the moment. It is not available for gluten free diets or those with celiac disease either. We do offer a vegetarian and gluten free friendly tour, it is our Gracia Neighborhood Food Tour. If you don’t drink alcohol (or are under 18) we will serve you non-alcoholic drinks. Please be sure to mark any dietary preferences when you book. If you have another dietary requirement, or a food allergy, please email [email protected] before you book and we’ll do our best to accommodate you. If you have a food allergy, we may ask you to sign a waiver at the start of the tour.
[/dt_sc_toggle_framed][dt_sc_toggle_framed title=”What’s not included?”]
The tour does not include transport to the meeting place, or from the ending point (ask your guide for guidance at the end of the tour if you’re not sure where you are).
Also, please feel free to tip your guide if you think they did a great job! The standard gratuity in the tour industry is 10-15%.
[/dt_sc_toggle_framed][dt_sc_toggle_framed title=”What should I bring?”]
Most importantly, your appetite!
Also, keep in mind that tours take place rain or shine, so please dress appropriately and bring an umbrella if it looks like rain. Also, we recommend you wear comfortable shoes as you’ll be walking a few kilometres. Finally, while we do serve water on the tour at some stops, we recommend you bring a bottle of water.
