This small triangle on the edge of the Eixample district wasn’t always known for its foodie scene! However, recent developments and changes in the neighborhood, including the remodeling of the enormous modernist market, Mercat de Sant Antoni have led to its present popularity. From old school taverns to nordic-inspired cafes, Sant Antoni is one of our favorite places to eat in Barcelona!

Bar Calders

Of the many establishments on Parlament street, there is probably none so popular as Bar Calders. A corner cafe with great tapas, a varied menu and a sheltered terrace on a small alleyway. Getting a table here may seem impossible as there are no reservations and it’s always packed. However, don’t panic! Do as the locals do and get your name on the list before heading to the bodega next door while you wait.

La Donuteria

In the mood for something sweet? Donuts are the latest craze in Barcelona, and the Sant Antoni neighborhood has been graced with their very own donuteria, and there’s a lot more than just the classic glazed! Choose from a huge array of delicious toppings and fillings. This is definitely one of our favorite places to eat in Sant Antoni for a quick on-the-go snack!

Tarranà

Good coffee, good bread, great ambiance. Welcome to Tarranà, one of the most authentic places to eat in Sant Antoni. A lovely minimalist cafe inhabiting another corner of Parlament street, is the place to go for your breakfast, aperitif, or also as the Spaniards call it, la merienda, a cozy afternoon snack, with your friends.

Bar Ramon

There’s a lot to love about Bar Ramon. It’s kitsch decor, the friendly waitstaff and of course, the infinitely long menu makes it a top place in the neighborhood to visit. They serve up classic tapas and Spanish comfort food. This no-frills bar has been a local’s favorite for decades, and it’s no wonder why!

The Fish & Chips Shop

Fried fish and tartar sauce may not be the first thing you think of for good food in Barcelona, but let the tiny Fish & Chips change that. Their short menu includes a few different seafood items and snacks as you would expect. However, also let’s be honest here, their fish and chips are to die for! Perfectly fried hake! Furthermore, just the right amount of seasoning on the chips and delicious homemade sauces for dipping are what makes us crave this place!

Federal Cafe

Federal Cafe, one of the very first trendy restaurants to set up shop on Parlament street, is making a splash throughout Spain. They now have a second location in Barcelona, in the Gothic Quarter. They have also opened in Madrid, and rumor states that there will soon be a Federal Cafe in Valencia. The space is beautiful, and the menu even more so. Fantastic brunch, salads, sandwiches, cakes and freshly squeezed juices, everything is made with top-notch, organic ingredients.

Lolita Taperia

As its name implies, Lolita Taperia is a fun, colorful and flirtatious tapas bar, arguably one of the best in Barcelona. Having transformed from its prior alias of l’Inopia Classic Bar, Lolita Taperia is one of the perfect places to eat in Sant Antoni! However, even to enjoy an after-work drink or better yet, a weekend vermouth, it’s not to be missed out on! Traditional dishes with a touch of creativity, it’s no wonder this place is always buzzing.
